Brie McFarland, PhD, is a senior consulting partner and category specialist for ERA Group.
She has worked with ERA Group for the last twelve years on cost containment projects, including analysis of medical/dental, pharmaceutical, and durable medical equipment (DME). In addition, she has worked on reference laboratories, surgical supplies, laboratory supplies, radiology supplies/nuclear medicine, and orthopedic supplies.
Brie works alongside her partner Becky Kalinowski. Their combined background in biomedical science analysis and clinical exposure allows them to help clients with projects in many areas of healthcare. They have focused on developing analytical methods that maximize high-volume savings for healthcare clients. Becky and Brie have worked on over 200 projects with hospitals, FQHCs, hospices, VNAs, long-term care facilities, laboratories, physician groups, and specialty practices.
Prior to joining ERA, Brie had a variety of roles at Monsanto Company in St. Louis. Her roles included acting as a liaison between the computer scientists and the biological scientists in their IT department, as well as people management roles in the deployment and support department.
She received her PhD from the University Of Connecticut Health Center in Biomedical Sciences and Structural Biology. Her primary focus was developing a novel insecticide from funnel web spider venom. She holds numerous patents for her work. She received a B.S. in
Genetic Engineering from Purdue University.
