Client: Undisclosed university
Sector: Education
Total Annual Savings: 50%
The client:
The university client is a leading educational institution committed to providing high-quality education and fostering academic excellence. With a diverse student body and faculty spread across multiple locations, effective communication and network infrastructure are critical for seamless operations and student success.
The challenge:
The university faced significant challenges with its telephone infrastructure and data network. The central campus telephone system utilized a legacy infrastructure. Furthermore, the phone system at the university’s remote sites was not agile enough to meet business requirements. The data network had also grown over time but was not delivering the expected performance. These challenges needed to be solved against a backdrop of limited investment.
The solution:
1. Telephony infrastructure upgrade: ERA’s specialists sourced a solution whereby the infrastructure could be modernized as well as generate savings in excess of 50%.
2. Agile solution for remote locations: To address the current challenge, ERA Group suggested an alternative solution that could be trialed at the main campus. The initial rollout has already been hugely successful, with end-users really pleased with the enhanced functionality they have access to. The solution ERA sourced saved the university more than 50%, and provided a foundation for the rollout of a new phone system across the institution.
3. Data network re-design: ERA conducted a comprehensive review of the university’s data network and identified opportunities for improvement. ERA Group specialists recommend changes, which resulted in increased performance and improved resilience. Moreover, cost savings of 40% were achieved.
The result:
The university realized more than 50% savings while upgrading its telecommunication infrastructure. Since ERA’s solutions were all funded by the cost savings found, no additional stress was put on the institution’s bottom line – meaning the university was able to utilize funds for other projects related to improving student education.
